Please refer to updated CPE category at the SASW Website.

The Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) has reviewed the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Framework and decided to reduce the number of CPE credits required for the renewal of accreditation status.

Registered Social Workers-Provisional, Registered Social Workers and Registered Social Service Practitioners are only required to fulfil 60 CPE credits, of which 40 CPE Credits must be from structured activities, during the two-year accreditation period. The CPE credits can be obtained through structured and unstructured activities as shown in the CPE Matrix below. This applies to social workers in both direct and indirect practice.

Activities for approval of CPE credits are to be submitted through the CPE Log Book that can be found in each accredited professional’s account. To start submitting CPE credits for renewal of accreditation status, please log into your account and choose the "CPE Log Book for Renewal" option.

If you are unable to meet the CPE requirements before your accreditation status expires, you will be given an extenstion period of 3 years to acquire the required number of credits.  During the extension period, you will not be accredited and will not be on the register.  Click here for information on Extension and Renewal.
